Not a Good Hug

The first day of school is in the books. And I'm fucking exhausted. But a few things-

I have way too many Yankees fans in my class.

I have the daughter of an HBO star in my class. Think prison. Think ex-boyfriend of Edie Falco's character.

It might be a really tough class.

It was 82 degrees in the classroom at the end of the day.

A new girl had a tough time on her first day at the school. At recess time, she was in tears. Five girls were trying to console her. I found out that a girl she knew from another class had come up to hug her but "it was barely a hug" and then the girl looked at her funny. Then she claimed that all the girls were giving her weird looks which I'm pretty sure was not happening. A well meaning classmate invited her to go chase some boys. Things seemed better.

One girl lamented that she really wanted to see "Open Water" but her parents wouldn't let her.

Who knows what Day 2 has in store for me?

Oh my, what teacher can't relate to this blog!!!! Most of my little dancers are upset because their parents won't let them go see Britney Spears in concert!!!! And, if I had a buck for every time a girl said someone was looking at her funny I wouldn't need to be teaching anymore!!!! Hang in there and check my blog after next week when my classes start. I am sure much awaits me.
