So since this is Listmaker, here is a short list of the three most overhyped/underwhelming bands of the past couple of years:

But then again, what the hell do I know? Last year I would have put Interpol on this list. And now I can't get enough of them. Still, I think that the Arcade Fire will be making its way to an internet sale fairly soon.

i still like the Wrens (and i really don't think there was that much hype about them beyond they "wow they haven't put an album out in 8 years" stuff), and i've even warmed up to ...Trail of Dead though i'm not gonna get all Pitchfork jizz-tastic over them.
there was a ton of hype for the wrens! mostly from music writers and such, but none the less. the arcade fire is a beast of its own. i subscribe to this "trend newsletter" through work. usually it's about the latest technology or stuff like ugg boots. the other week, i got an email about the arcade fire. ew.
