Uptown Is Way Too Uptown

Last week Youthlarge, Mooney, and I went to go see Laura Cantrell at the amazing new venue at Columbus Circle. The acoustics were amazing! But nothing beats the view.

I obeyed the rules and didn't take any pictures of the show. I thought that it was okay to take pictures after the show. So I took a few.

But when I was in the midst of shooting this photo, I heard an irritated voice calling, "Sir! Sir!" I pretended to not hear. Within a few seconds, the woman beckoning me had gathered her wits and was able to utter another word other than "Sir." She said, "You can not take pictures!" I told her that I thought that I could take pictures after the show. She said, "No you can't take pictures at any time." I asked her for the reason and she said, "Intellectual property rights."

How incredibly lame is that? Are they afraid that I'm going to go home and reconstruct the venue in my apt? Perhaps I'll use some tasty crackers in the endeavor?

And then we took a cab home because if work is paying, why the hell not?

Intellectual copyright? My word, you're right, that is lame. But whether or not you were allowed to take them, those pictures are amazing.
