Orioles Magic (Feel It Happen)

I am convinced.

The Orioles will be contenders all season. They can not be stopped! Their offense is too damn good. BJ Ryan is a beast! The bullpen is solid, the rotation is improving. Ray Miller is a genius. Flanagan and Beattie will find a way to get a solid veteran presence in the rotation by the trading deadline. The Yankees are old and crotchety. The Red Sox are injured and spent.

I'm looking for 90 wins and wild card contention all year. I'm looking for the most exciting season in Baltimore since '89.

I sent an e-mail with the exact same title and punctuation earlier this week. That must mean something. All hail the black and orange.

Actually, I am beggining to believe that something magic does, in fact, happen every time Bruce Chen pitches.

Injured and spent? Sheesh. We look pretty tasty for an injured and spent team. Still, the Orioles have been impressive thus far and the general consensus from the Weasel couch analysis bullpen is that they could very well win the division. Haven't seen enough of the rest of the AL to make a call on the ALCS, but if the Sox can't have it it would be nice to have anyone but the Yankees do well in the east.

My, I'm in a magnanimous mood today; something must be wrong.

excuse me hwl for getting excited. the orioles haven't even been close to finishing over .500 since 1997. not only do their main rivals look weaker than they have in years but the orioles are showing major signs that orioles magic has returned.

with guys like tejada, sosa, etc. this team has no chance to be as underrated and surprising as the '89 squad led by the incomparable jeff ballard, but they definitely have a chance to be the most fun team since that "why not" glory of yesteryear.

it is may 1 and the orioles are 4 full games ahead of the world champion red sox! how could i not be excited? it isn't like they rehired joe gibbs and i've already proclaimed that they are going to win the super bowl months before the season began. oh wait, wrong sport.

how dare i get excited about a team? you are always so pragmatic, rational, and unexcited in your fandom.

something magic happens, larry. everytime you go!
