My Bright Future

There are two things that one day I will most likely become the proud guardian of -- in no particular order.

-An iPod

-A child

Sometimes I wonder which one I'll get first. If I were a betting man, I would say that the iPod will arrive first if for no other reason that I'm getting sick of my damn cassette Walkman. I'm sick of recording CDs to tape for my walkman. But as previously stated, iPods don't have AM capability and I like to listen to baseball. With my current setup I can easily flip back and forth between music and the radio. I refuse to go the Chris Larry route of having two devices and then flipping back and forth with his headphones. I still refuse to go the route of a CD walkman because they don't fit in my pocket.

My walkman versus Youthlarge's iPod.

So how did I link these two seemingly disparate items in my mind? Let me count the ways.

Babies and iPods

They are both cute and small.

Both are fragile creatures.

It is reassuring to know that both are in my future.

I am in no real rush for either but I am looking forward to someday having both.

Undoubtedly, they will keep me up at night either because they are awake or because I will be planning things for it -- whether that entail trips to the park or what playlists to add, I can't be sure.

Even though I have a pretty good idea, I can't exactly be sure what color it will be upon arrival.

Don't think that I'm the only one with this crazy idea. I'm not the one who named her iPod "eggy" which means baby in Korean.

Eggy on the desktop.

Now if I could only figure out how to somehow find a tenuous link between a dog and a flat screen high definition large ass television ...

When I was in Virginia a month ago I went into a Radio Shack thinking about your iPod/AM radio problem. I looked for tiny AM radios. You can't buy an incredibly small AM radio even if you did feel like switching between devices. Perhaps you'll have to make the switch to the iPod when you can get it with XM radio?

I have a shuffle which works well for me as i can run with it and it's just like a little jukebox that I can run with. As for the larger ipod I too am wating for the day (a year? two?) when they come with radio. Then i shall wait another two years while the fuss dies down and the prices drop.

I'm looking for the cell phone w/AM radio to accompany the ipod, thus making me feel that I'm not carrying extraneous equipment.

Of course, this would mean I would have to get both a cell phone and an ipod, but that's just details.

I understand that after he left hip hop Sir Mix-a-Lot opened a "Large Ass Television Warehouse" in Flatbush. It really makes all the difference when you watch "Maid in Manhattan."

I want an ipod w/am/fm and a swiss army knife, otherwise why get one.

bowles,

i like the way you think but even with satellite radio option, i'll be pissed because then i'll have to pay for am radio that i could have just gotten for free.

josh,
holy shit, i love that idea but even if i could get my hands on one of those, it would still be annoying because to mess with the ipod portion, i'd have to open the damn walkman part. i'm picky.

debbie,
please please please don't even make a reference to rita rudner on my blog ever again. or paula poundstone. judy tenuta is acceptable though.

Get an iPaq with a wi-fi card - you can take all your mp3s with you and track your games online - plus for the same cost as an ipod you can store pix, documents, play games, etc...

Eggy means baby in Korean? I find that so... wonderful. I'm a bit obsessed with both iPods and babies so I love this entry. I would like it if you got both soon and then promised never to leave our current place of employment so then we could be iPod/baby TWINS.
