From today's NY Times:
The White House responded yesterday by saying it would release oil from the nation's emergency stockpiles to meet shortages and would relax environmental standards nationwide so that refiners could produce more - but dirtier - gasoline.

weasel is referring to the spam that i deleted after his comment. maybe i should move to the word verification thing but that makes me feel like ticketmaster.
I went to it only because I was getting bombarded with crap all of a sudden and I don't want to compel people (relatives etc) to get a blogger account (another set of details on file to be sold to bulk mailers etc) to leave the occasional message. It is sort of impersonal though, eh? If there is a better solution folks, share.
