I Can't Believe It Myself

But I've decided to head back to my current school. I realized that I just didn't do a comprehensive enough search for public schools. I needed to do a better job researching and visiting schools. I'll consider this a learning experience and next year I will do a better job preparing for the search. It will be interesting to see if some of the schools I sent my resume to that I have not heard from will get in touch with me. I keep hearing that public schools often will call over the summer. If a few call, this will help me figure out next year's search even better.

All in all, I got five interviews. One school wanted me to do a demo lesson. I sent out about 15 resumes. I think 50 is a better number to start with next year.

On Friday, I had a meeting with Red Pants. He refused to budge on my base salary but was offered a nice package to do some curriculum writing. At first, I was annoyed that he wouldn't just add to my salary but the man is stubborn. And the work that I plan on doing will be beneficial to my career in the long run anyway. I'll write more about that later.

For now, I feel okay. I'll stay one more year. I'll enjoy next year. I'll boost my resume. I'll search better. And, for now, I plan on being able to sleep again.

Now that THAT monkey is off your back, you can do more important things this summer. Like drink. In my backyard. I have a plan to somehow watch baseball games on the tv back there. Like old men do.
