Fall TV

Heroes
I was ready to give up on this show but last week's episode was quite entertaining. I guess I'm in for longer. One good episode buys this show at least a few more bad ones. But please don't send Hiro back in time again and please limit the bleeding from the eyes from those new characters.

Pushing Daisies
Looks great but a little too twee for me I think. I had decided to stop watching it but then SHR told me that Mike White was going to be on this Wednesday's episode so we're giving it one more shot.

Friday Night Lights
Another show that I was about to give up on but the last few episodes have been better. I just don't understand some of the dumb plot lines from this season. NBC seems to be wanting to Homicide this show out of existence. The only plot lines that have felt natural and not a complete reach have been any that involve Buddy Garrity or Matt Saracen. I've had enough murders and trips to Mexico already. No more dumb shit please.

The Office
I miss the hour long shows that started the season. I can't believe how good this show continues to be. Even the not as good parts are still worth watching. If this show is finished for the year due to the writer's strike, it went out on quite a sad note.

30 Rock
Other than the hideous Jerry Seinfeld episode, this show continues to entertain the hell out of me. The second best show on TV right now after The Office.

Project Runway
I got sick of this show by the end of Season 3. The first episode of the current season barely registered on my interest level. But I liked the second episode and as long as there is a Hong still involved, sign me up.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
I really didn't like the first episode but by the end of the season, I loved Larry again. All season, it was obvious that Cheryl didn't find Larry as amusing as she once did but I didn't think that she would actually leave him on the show. I wonder how soon after his wife left him in real life before he began shooting this current season. I was surprised that this show had even come back but now it is rolling again. The last few minutes of this season rank up there as one of the best season finales I've seen in years. Larry David's real life heartbreak might be one of the best things of the past year for television viewers.

not much to argue with here...i have actually like the 30 min offices better than the 60 min eps. 30 rock rulz.

Curb was brilliant this year. bravo...first episode was fine, especially since it established the blacks....to insert that much open wound into your sitcom...wow...I hope he did marry the blacks and it wasnt a dream...

regarding the office, i love the 30 min. episodes as well. but i want more. more! and now the season is over.

regarding curb, i think the ending was real. it opens up too many great possibilities for next year for it not to be true.

chris, what are you watching these days?

I think the 60 minute office episodes were too much. they felt like they were stretching. The 30 minutes episodes are a knockout punch but 60 is too much of a not quite as good thing. Also Pam and Jim are boring me to tears this season. The secondary characters continue to rule. 30 Rock actually makes me laugh out loud more and has edged out the office for my favorite sitcom on tv. beauty and the geek has been stellar this season. if you're not watching it, you're missing out on some serious tv gold.

agree that the 60 minute offices were too long. 45 minutes is the perfect length. they can devote the remaining 15 minutes to expanded versions of the webisodes starring the accountants that were available over the summer.

agreed - 45 minutes is perfect but i still prefer more than less.

in fact, some of the weakest moments so far (michael in the woods for example) have come during the 30 minute shows.

i don't mind the pam and jim stuff. i prefer that to the drawing out of them not dating. where else are they going to go with it for now? face it, couples are more boring dude.

I love The Office and especially Andy. It's cool how many new characters were placed on the show but didnt effect the rythym of the show at all. This show just keeps getting better and better. I would love to see a montage of Andy's singing.

As for Pushing Daisies.
I got bored. The constant narrating is annoying. The girl bugs me and how many ways can you make this concept interesting.
The pilot crashing into the apartment episode was the last one I saw. that one was good but after that it was downhill for me.

Dan - I think I read somewhere, maybe on Sepinwall, that the entire season of Curb was written before any talk of divorce in real life. However, I'm sure the writing was on the wall for Larry.

This year 30 Rock is almost in a dead heat with The Office for my affections. The Office by a nose but 30 Rock has really closed the gap. Maybe I'm a dork in these circles but I love How I Met Your Mother (it's all about Jason Segal), and I'm determined to finish out the string with Scrubs even though the last couple season have been ho-hum.

Recently caught up with season one of Dexter, very entertaining, and I've just started season one of Weeds.

But, man, it's all about The Wire. Can't wait for Jan. 6.

marc loves how i met your mother as well. maybe i should it another chance. i watched the very first episode and that was it.

weeds gets bad fairly soon after the first season.
