It is as if they decided to make Juno but with Rob Schneider doing his gender-bending take on Ellen Page's role. Alas, Schneider was too busy doing The Deuce Bigalow Monologues off Broadway, so they went with his female avatar, the once-talented Amy Poehler.
I put my money on Will Arnett's cameo coming about three minutes into the second reel.
Really? OK, so it's no Linda Linda Linda, but have you seen the preview for Fool's Gold? The Hottie and the Nottie? The last five Ben Stiller movies? I agree with Larry, it may not be amazing, but there is NO WAY it's worse than whatever Eddie Murphy does next. No way.
of course, it isn't going to be as bad as some of the movies you just mentioned. but i guess i expect a bit more from tina fey now that her career seems to be at its creative peak.
i don't care all that much and i'm sure that when this on hbo hd, i'll watch a bit (hell i still want to see the rest of the superhero uma thurman movie someday) but there was just something about this preview that rubbed me the wrong way when i first saw it before be kind rewind the other day.
I was all prepared to be horrified on your behalf, and maybe it's the depths that motherhood has brought me to (ie. smelling/licking to determine whether something is chocolate or poop), but it didn't look half bad to me. It didn't look great, but it sure as hell looked beter than the awful preview for Be Kind Rewind that I had to sit through 3 times.
@df - sure, but on paper would you really expect a romantic island caper comedy (that's what i gleaned from the trailer)starring matthew mcconaughey to be good?
no one's comparing it to LLL, but i really expected something a little less embarrassing from tina fey, romany malco and amy poehler. as dan wrote above, you'd think tina fey could be a little more discriminating with the scripts that come her way at this point in her career.
then again, maybe it's just the person who edited the trailer who needs to be fired.
donovan, allison, and chris - what are you doing on 4/25? i say the 4 of us go see this movie together on opening night!
also, donovan, why the reference to linda linda linda? because it was my number one film of 2006? why not make a reference to my number one film of 2007 - superbad? just wondering about the choice ...
I secind the horror that you saw be kind rewind. that looked lame and boring. the preview, which i've suffered through 3 times as well, looks crappy, the acting is terrible, the jokes are severely unfunny and the proemise is super lame. why do i feel like the only one amazed by how stupid this film looks? is it simply michel gondry that has people giving it the benefit of the doubt? because i findit hard to believe anyone's excited to see jack black as a manic annoyance again or mos def in an acting role. but then again, i seem to be in the minority here.

tina fey, Poehler, the black dude from weeds/40 year old virgin...doesnt look that bad....
alright - maybe it isn't the WORST thing i've ever seen but it looks pretty damn bad to me.

this definitely looked like the worst thing i've ever seen.
I actually saw them filming this at the courthouse on Court St. last fall, and the craft services didn't look too good either.

I really don't get the reaction to this, your negativity on this actually makes me want to see it more.....
And Amy P is still funny.....
