I moved to New York in 9/97 and for the first time as a New York resident, I don't have to deal with the Yankees in the postseason! The baseball gods have finally answered my prayers. But with great free agents available this offseason and 100 million dollars to play with, I'm not optimistic that this glory will last too long. I'll enjoy it while I can.

how will it affect your mood if the Mets also miss the playoffs (again)? i guess there's lots of interesting possibilities between the Rays, Cubs, Phillies, etc. to keep you tuned in even without Johan and the gang.
that said, will you be rooting against Mussina getting his 20th win on Sunday in Boston? he'll probably be facing a minor league lineup and if he pitches well it could help you in Wins and WHIP enough to maybe get 3rd place. oh, the dilemma! i have to say, for some weird reason a part of me wants him to get it. i don't know why, as i've reveled for several years about the fact that he's never won 20 and never won a World Series, even after joining the Yankees. he's just not hateable the same way Clemens is, i guess.
He's hateable enough. I will be joining numerous other Orioles fans and rooting against his 20th win with a vengeance.
mussina is no clemens that's for sure. but to be honest, i probably will be rooting for him if i am within shouting distance of 3rd place on sunday.
plus it would be funny if he finally win 20 in the year that the yankees don't even make the playoffs.
if the mets don't make it, i won't be nearly as crushed as last year. i'll gladly watch the playoffs.
