In December, my parents gave SHR and me their '99 Maxima. It is the first car I've owned since 1998. It has proved quite useful with twins in the house. But parking has been a pain in the butt. Each side of the street is cleaned twice a week in my neighborhood. This means that I have to move the car three times between Monday and Thursday.
Last week, SHR forwarded me an e-mail with the best possible news.
Alternate Side Parking regulations suspended in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn starting May 18 for six to eight weeks as DOT posts new, reduced street-cleaning restrictions
Effective Monday, May 18, 2009, Street Cleaning/Alternate Side Parking Regulations will be temporarily suspended in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill sections of Brooklyn's Community District 2 for approximately six to eight weeks as the Department of Transportation (DOT) installs approximately 2,000 signs with new, reduced regulations. In most cases, daytime residential street cleaning parking restrictions will be reduced from twice a week to just once a week to ease parking for local residents.
My quality of life has just increased exponentially. Summer '09 will indeed be a glorious one! Three cheers for the DOT! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

we had the same thing last summer and it was indeed glorious. Plus be on the lookout because after they finished the signs in our neighborhood they did a nearby one (Carroll Gardens) for 6 weeks, so we just moved the car over there and kept on rockin'!
The only bad part is when you have to go back to moving it. Ugh.
but when i have to go back to moving it - it will only be once a week rather than 3 times a week.
