Wednesday is the Last Day of School and Then I Will Be Unemployed

Granted, I still will have a whole week after Wednesday to clean up, pack some stuff, and sit through endless meetings.

And I will continue getting paid through the end of August.

But still, it is going to be an odd feeling on Wednesday. It will be my last day teaching children at the school after working there for 10 years.

Last week, I was offered back my old position (long story) for one more year as a maternity leave replacement. SHR and I thought long and hard about it and decided that I shouldn't take it.

Anyway, I hope the hiring freeze ends. Or I hope that I can get enough tutoring jobs. Bring on the summer! Where the living is easy and I'll be Mr. Mom. Summer Dan is officially taking a long hiatus.

About that hiatus, I'll see you in 20. Years.

Pondering on, forget all that depression era tightened dignity, you should go unemployed British style, or 'doley' as it's called. Follow the example of my next door neighbour: Sit about in the backyard all day smoking and talking ridiculously loudly on your phone, swear at people whenever possible, scream at your kids, fight with your wife and generally do nothing about getting a job. Oh, you probably vote nazi, that's if you bother to vote at all......

Sorry, just my inner Tebbit (Inner Cheney) coming out.

I have made no plans for my year "off the bus." I am officially available to take any and all reference calls on your behalf. Technically I'm still in employ at the Cow Wow School.
