Any Post That Includes a Picture of My Grandfather AND a Picture of a Cute Asian Baby Wearing a Helmet Can't Be Bad

1. I don't have a job. My last paycheck was in late August. We are going to be completely broke. The last time September rolled around without me heading back to school or a job was probably around the time I looked like this --

And even then, I was probably in preschool. It feels weird and more than a little bit depressing.

2. I had a very good chance of getting a 2nd grade job at an independent school in Manhattan. I interviewed on Friday and pretty much would have needed to start yesterday. It just wasn't going to work for me for a number of reasons. For starters, there just wasn't enough time to get things in order so quickly. But I definitely made a good impression on the powers-that-be and hope to sub there this year on the occasional Friday.

It felt good to do well on an interview. I am usually terrible. I feel like most interviews I've been on have been about how well I can talk teacher talk and mention as many buzzwords as possible. The ones I do well on feel more like the interviewer trying to figure out what I'm about and how I'd fit into the school.

3. It looks like Otis is going to have to get a helmet. He has something called plagiocephaly or flat head syndrome.

I don't know what the helmet is going to look like but I hope it's as awesome as this one.


4. Our apartment is in contract. We are waiting to see what happens. If all goes well, we'll be out of here by the end of October. We'll also be out of tens of thousands of dollars but you can't have everything.
