In Treatment
I really liked the first season of In Treatment but I think I might have liked the second season even more. Every story was good. And to make things even better, Gabriel Byrne's character moved to Brooklyn. In fact, one recent episode featured a 12-year-old patient who bolted from Bryne's office. He ran for a few blocks before stopping at the park right across the street where SHR and I used to live.

Not only was the season great, but I loved the interview Byrne did with Terry Gross where he kept trying to goad her into starting therapy since she loved watching him play one on TV so much. Oh Terry. Your nervous giggling is sometimes so fabulous.

Field Day '09
Going to great heights.

The homestretch. I realized that I had no chance against Roberto, the stellar swim teacher. But there was no way in hell I was going to lose to Kristin, my associate. No way. I don't care if she's eleven years younger than me.

Roberto had already blown us away. Kristin realized that she had no chance.
2nd place went to me!
As did a lot of soreness the following day. Geez, I've got to start exercising again.

I can't believe I had to do so much work. Remember the old days when all we had to do was run around with pretend bagels?

I Didn't Have to Move the Car Today!
In December, my parents gave SHR and me their '99 Maxima. It is the first car I've owned since 1998. It has proved quite useful with twins in the house. But parking has been a pain in the butt. Each side of the street is cleaned twice a week in my neighborhood. This means that I have to move the car three times between Monday and Thursday.
Last week, SHR forwarded me an e-mail with the best possible news.
Alternate Side Parking regulations suspended in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn starting May 18 for six to eight weeks as DOT posts new, reduced street-cleaning restrictions
Effective Monday, May 18, 2009, Street Cleaning/Alternate Side Parking Regulations will be temporarily suspended in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill sections of Brooklyn's Community District 2 for approximately six to eight weeks as the Department of Transportation (DOT) installs approximately 2,000 signs with new, reduced regulations. In most cases, daytime residential street cleaning parking restrictions will be reduced from twice a week to just once a week to ease parking for local residents.
My quality of life has just increased exponentially. Summer '09 will indeed be a glorious one! Three cheers for the DOT! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Bocce and Babies: A Winning Combination
The last Saturday in April meant bocce fun. I took the boys to Bensonhurst.
Henry = Future If You Want My Bocce star.

Sam & Otis were hungry. Suzy helped me out.

Dave and the peanut gallery. The last time I played on this court, some of these old guys absolutely schooled us.

Sean and Rebecca

Beth made a new friend.

Not quite as good as this photo.

Then I headed back to Park Slope to Chris and Mary's and met up with SHR for the Baby-cue with the Coffee Flats Pee Wee League. Balgavy came up with the babycue name and SHR with the Coffee Flats Pee Wee League trademark. I love both.
Alex and Charlie

So many babies!

Double Trouble finally got to meet their friend Elliott who they previously had only seen in Blackberry form.

Looks Like I Picked the Wrong Year to Look For a New Job
About a month ago, I decided to finally make the move to the public schools for the upcoming school year. I even had an interview set up for this afternoon at a school that I was very excited about.I received an e-mail from the principal of the school this morning letting me know that the city has decided to implement a hiring freeze - no new hires from outside the system.
It's too late to go back to my current school. Um ... oops.
This is not good. It looks like I'll be staying in the independent school world after all. It is time to rethink everything and figure out my next step.
