Summer TV Wrapup

Louie
I love this show. Even when it didn't completely work, it still worked for me. It was so bizarrely funny and incredibly hard to pin down. I can honestly say I've never quite seen anything on TV like this show before.

Death Comes to Town
Each episode kept getting funnier. Those Kids in the Hall guys sure are talented, huh? I can't stop chuckling to myself every time I think about the big city lawyer or Death riding around town.
Mad Men
The best season yet? I really can't get enough.

Hung
SHR gave up. I've kept on and it's actually gotten a bit better as the season has worn on despite Jane Adams being so over-the-top annoying most of the time.

Entourage
For some reason, I've liked this season despite it being as silly as ever. Then when I found it that next season would be the last and it was finally going to end, I started really enjoying this season.

Rubicon
Just couldn't get into it. I feel like I have personally let Marc and Jim down. Sorry guys.

I couldn't get into rubicon either but i only gave it about 2 1/2 minutes. this is easily my favorite season of mad men. it seems to be taking itself less seriously this year and is all the better for it. i love every storyline going right now and the discovery of the sterling's gold tapes is one of the greatest moments on the show so far.

I'm still undecided about Rubicon but the show is pretty enough for me to keep watching.

This past Saturday I saw an ad for AVION tequila on the LIRR.

I saw a bottle of Avion on the highest shelf at a liquor store the other day. I think it was $40 or $50. Yikes.

I disagree on this season of Mad Men. I liked the last episode but the two before that really baffled me. Seemed like they were trying too hard to be arty or profound and not succeeding. Also they're stretching Don Draper's character in ways that I'm sorry to say I don't think Jon Hamm is capable of pulling off (or maybe just shouldn't be asked to attempt, because they're so contradictory). Him writing his memoir or whatever this week was not necessary. Still, they're working interesting angles and it's one of the best shows on TV even in its weaker moments.

No sweat on Rubicon. I'm into it but it is far from my favorite.

I was not able to finish Death Comes to Town because our Time Warner connection is somehow cursed, and HD shows that are on the "scheduled recordings" list, and that sometimes even record, suddenly disappear when you go to watch them. From the 4 that I watched I have to say that Dave Foley really makes a good middle aged woman. He should think about a sex change for real.
